The pear diamond, also known as the "teardrop" or "pendeloque," is a graceful and brilliant cut whose shape suggests a single, shining drop of water. Popularly found in pendants and earrings, it is also quite standard in engagement rings, where its unique shape will often be set off as a solitaire. With its 58 glittering facets, the pear diamond has nearly the fire of a classic round brilliant diamond, and its elongated shape (traditionally with a length-to-width ratio between 1.45 and 1.75) has slenderizing effect on the fingers.
