This rare cut is an old-fashioned classic, a vintage look admired since the late 1800s, and hard to find outside of antique rings. The famous Hope Diamond is, for example, a cushion cut. This shape has been known as the "pillow cut" for its resemblance to an overstuffed pillow, as well as the "candlelight diamond" for its brilliant sparkle in candlelight. Square or rectangular as preferred, its rounded edges and large facets give a quality cushion cut diamond softness and clarity.
