Superbcert® Princess CutTM

We are proud to introduce our SUPERBcert® princess cut. It is a traditional square shaped diamond, cut to maximize fire and scintillation with high performance on brilliance. The light performance of these SUPERBcert® princess diamonds is outstanding and surpasses that of virtually all other princess-cuts.

Princess Cuts in past years due to their lack of popularity had been cut for maximum weight retention at the expense of beauty. This yielded diamonds with very spread tables, small crowns, thick girdles, and deep pavilions that looked glassy and displayed minimum light output. While people appreciated the beauty and elegance of the square shaped diamonds, many were put off by the blatant light leakage resulting from this swindled cut. Another difficulty with princess cut diamonds was its penchant for leaking light through the four corners.

More recently, with the incredible resurgence in popularity of the square shape diamond, many companies have manufactured a modified square diamond with tapered edges in an effort to minimize light leakage from the corners. The Regent ™ cut diamond, the Dream™ cut diamond, and the Tiffany Lucida ™ cut diamond are but a few brands of modified square shaped diamonds that use this technique.

A problem with this type of shape is that by tapering the corners of the diamond you are essentially negating the traditional and timeless look of the princess cut diamond. A "tapered" square is not a true square shaped diamond. An additional problem with many of these new fangled cuts is that unlike the traditional princess cut diamond shape, these shapes may often have limited staying power and are "here today and gone tomorrow".

For these reasons we decided to tackle the traditional princess cut diamond without making any changes to the diamonds shape. We attempted instead on harnessing and reflecting maximum light back out through the table to the eye. What we found during our extensive cutting research was that not unlike other fancy diamond shapes, one cannot rely on "numbers" alone to give you an idea of a princess cut diamonds light output. More (crucially) important are the diamonds cut angles, size of the angles, and their positioning in relation to each other (facet placement).

To this end we believe we have made incredible strides and encourage you to take a look at our SUPERBcert® Princess Cut Diamonds, including our digital photos, ImageScopes, and BrillianceScope reports, and "see" this difference for yourself!
