Bead Set Engagement Rings

A bead setting is one where a diamond is set directly into the metal band using tiny chisels. A hole is drilled directly into the metal surface and a concave depression made specifically matching the dimensions of the stone. After the diamond is positioned in the concavity the small slivers of metal resulting from the drilling is pulled up and over the sides of the diamond to hold it firmly in place. It is also referred to as “pave” from the French for paved or cobblestoned.
