Loose Asscher Cut Diamonds

The basic design of the Asscher cut diamond is a square emerald step cut with deep corners and 72 facets. Today, Asscher cut diamonds have more facets and the the step cut corners can vary in width and size. These step cut corners add to the Asscher’s geometric appeal, and makes the diamond appear almost octagonal. The Asscher cut diamond was first developed in 1902 by Abraham and Joseph Asscher of the Royal Asscher Diamond Company in Holland. The Asscher cut diamond was originally popular in the 1920’s and has recently become popular again.
